Once Upon a Time in the West (original title: C’era una volta il West) by Sergio Leone is one of the most successful Spaghetti Westerns of all time. The Italian-US-American co-production from 1969 impresses with its long takes and epic wide-angle shots. A special location is the farm Sweetwater, where a duel between the gangster Frank and the nameless man (harmonica), who wants to avenge the death of his brother, takes place towards the end of the film. But why are we writing about this here?<\/p>\n

When it comes to Spaghetti Western, we inevitably have to think of our friends from Smokin’ Guns<\/a>, the Spaghetti Western game based on ioquake3 par excellence. We already reported that the Smokin’ Guns team, with the support of illwieckz from the Unvanquished team<\/a>, has been working on a new version of the game based on the Daemon engine<\/a> for quite some time. While a release is not expected this year, illwieckz has recently updated the mapping tools. This was reason and incentive enough for Breli from the SG team to start his editor and finally release a first version of a map that was started more than a decade ago and never finished. During an online session with friends he remembered his project from back then and luckily he was able to restore the original source file from his old emails. You can read more about this in the corresponding thread<\/a> of the SG forum.<\/p>\n

Finally, we can show you some first screenshots of the Breli’s Sweetwater map for SG, which is meant as a homage to one of the greatest movies of all times. You can already play and test it online, because T\u00e9quila has provided a test server (91.121.39.115:27974). All you need is the latest version<\/a> of Smokin’ Guns. As soon as you connect to the test server, the map should download automatically. Have fun!<\/p>\n
